Icon named "Hoster"
Today there is an icon on my desktop that reads "Hoster" - I right-clicked it and went to Properties to find "hoster.exe" - which I "googled" - it seems as though it might be something terrible. I don't know how it got there and want to know what to do ASAP! I'm going to disable this internet connection and go use my dial-up PC just in case. I'm really FREAKED OUT!

Hoster in itself is not a bad program. It is a host file helper as far as I can see.
You can always delete it from the desktop and Remove from Add/Remove Programs.
