I was reading the forum and saw a link I wanted to read (computersettlement.com) - I clicked it (using Netscape) and after about 5 seconds it said my action had timed out! What's that all about?

I just tried it and I'd say their site is down. IE will try for a set period of time to connect to a site. If it cannot make the connection it will display a time out or page cannot be displayed message.

Gee whiz - I understand what you've explained, but this was only in 5 seconds or so. But, it also could be related to the other problems I have with my computer, couldn't it?

Unlikely related to your other problems. If you were having trouble viewing multiple sites then yes. I can't get that site to load at all.
