Cannot see page in IE - Firefox no problem

I am a member of file-reg.com. I can login with Firefox no problem - but when I login with Internet Explorer I get a 'page cannot be displayed' error.

    Any tips?

Try clearing your temp files and cookies via Tools > Internet Options > General

Also check the Security tab to verify that this site is not on the Restricted list.

Should have mentioned I did all that - cookies, temp files - in advanced enabled all ssl, tls etc - unchecked 'third party browser extensions - restart - added the site to the trusted site list - swtched off firewall (briefly) - cleared ssl slate in 'certificates' ............... and still I cannot see the login page in IE! (btw - this is after I login and not the page 'to' login) but again Firefox works no problem - the page can be seen!

I even tried to reinstall IE but got the message 'you have a newer version of IE and cannot install'. Looked up the problem and saw that I had to do a bypass surgery with regedit - did that - changed the hexadecimal from 1 to 0 - restarted and tried to reinstall again - and got the same message (can I sue MS for imcompetence?)

I use XP pro - have all the updates - also the latest version of IE 6 (IE 7 can wait a couple of years untill all or most of the bugs have been sorted out)

Could it be an activeX problem??... any other tips welcome

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
The latest version of IE is totally incorporated in SP2.

Do you have SP2? The repair option for IE SP2 is to reinstall SP2.
