    Unhappy IE & Firefox help

Yesterday I downloaded the Firefox browser and it works fine apart from javascript links (images) are very slow to load but when I use IE they load instantly. My connection isn't slow as I have broadband. I tried to uninstall Firefox but now I have a problem on IE! Arggh! Whenever my cursor hovers on a javascript link a dotted grey border appears round it and if i click once it doesn't activate the link I have to click twice! If anyone can help either of these problems it would be extremely appreciated!

I would suggest reloading Java as a first step:

No there is still slow loading in firefox. Could it be any of my settings? I have changed most settings back to default to see if it helps but It hasn't.

Update: I have been browsing the web and I have found that the problem with Internet Explorer wasn't anything to do with me downloading Firefox. Since the 11th of April microsoft have released an IE upadate. Now IE users will be required to “activate” embedded objects and plug-ins before they can interact with them. I recieved my update through active update and the user cannot disable this new operation through their browser. Most websites will have to fix the problem themselves so that IE users don't experience this. What happens is a grey dotted box appears around the object and the message "press SPACEBAR or ENTER to activate and use this control" Other users might ask about this problem as it should soon become widespread. My advise is that if you dont get updates automatically don't try to get any manual updates until most sites have fixed their html so that you dont experience the problem. It isn't too ba dbut it is really annoying to have to click every embedded object to activate it before you use it.

I still do have problems with firefox and the slow loading of the images.

I also now have a problem with windows media playing on the internet. I don't know why this happens because on some versions it will play and others it will just fail to start. I dont get any error messages at all. I think it is something to do wiht the new update, what do you think?

You might try a System Restore to a point prior to the 11th updates.

I took all those updates with no problem so I would assume that your issues are involved with some combination of softwares and or sources.

Anyway a Restore might be an interesting test.
