IE Shuts Down
I run Win XP with service pack 2, Automatic updates is turned on. I have IE 6, Zone Alarm, Spybot, Ad Aware. I connect through AOL by dial up modem.
At times when I go to a site it simply shuts down IE. For example this happened at www.holmchurch.org
Any advice would be most welcome.

Any error messages? What exactly happens?
Also view your Error Log via:

[2] Help and Support
[3] Pick a Task
[4] Tools
[5] Advanced System Information
[6] View the Error Log
Look for any synchronous entries.

No error messages. IE just shuts.
I went to the error log as you advised and this is what I found on a number of occassions
ACPI AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

"ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address" error message when you open the event viewer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283649/en-us
I don't think this has anything to do with your IE problem but if you want to trace the BIOS what is the exact make and model of the computer?
Are you still having the same problem? Is it only certain websites? Is it always the same websites?
Have you tried another browser such as Firefox? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Just as a test to point to or eliminate IE as the source of this issue.

Thanks I will follow up the microsoft link. Yes the problem remains. It is only with certain sites but I can't see any common link between them.
