Strange ... was it always like that?

    Try this:

    start/run cmd

    then type ipconfig /all

You mean it shows all your details? Address? Mask? Gateway? etc.

"what else should you do"? Is their a problem beyond the window issue? Is your Internet Connection working?

Were you ever able to view Local Area Connection Status before in that window?

By the way and probably irrelevant but what kind of XP skin are you using?

Yah it shows all of the details and stuff. No there is no problem beyond not seeing it at that window and yah I could see it before I formatted my computer.
I’m using style XP default skin (panther) why do you ask?

    Thanks

I've never seen that skin and was curious. I was just wondering if it could affect the problem in some way but probably not. Here is another idea:

Configure the local area network connection to obtain an IP
    address automatically.
Do this by right clicking your network connection (Start>Control
    Panel>Network Connections.
Select Internet Protocol TCP /IP and click the Properties button. In the
General tab the radio button next to
Obtain an IP address automatically should be selected.
