Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?
Can you describe in detail how all these devices (your network) is configured?
To see how each computer is seeing it's connection from a command prompt type ipconfig /all
-
Yes things were working fine before and i tried what you said and still nothing.
the only new hardware i had on there was a webcam but it was working fine the day/week after i installed it then one day it just stopped working i called the internet company and they said the modem is fine and the card is fine so i have no idea whats going on. And what exactly do you mean by describe my network im not very computer smart when it comes to some things

Can you describe in detail how all these devices (your network) is configured?
You mentioned: my laptop and other devices but not my desktop
How are they all connected?
Go to each device (computer) and run the command: ipconfig /all
If you right click in the command window you should be able to Copy All and then paste into a notepad and then post back here.
The difference in these logs might shed some light on the issue.

Was this exact setup working OK previously?
You have XP (or what)? on your laptop? 98 on the desktop?
How is the laptop connected to the desktop or vice versa and then to the router/modem?
-
Yes the exact setup was working previously on my dekstop which has 98 and my laptop has XP the laptop is connected to the internet via wireless connection thru my router which is connected to the desktop and cable modem. My desktop is the one not able to connect to the internet the laptop works perfect sorry i didnt make that clear
