Alright i just formatted my hard drive and installed windows xp pro x64. I successfuly installed the nForce3 64bit drivers for my motherboard whcih has built in ethernet. I'm connected to the internet through my university's LAN.

now if i'm browsing the web using the 64 bit version of IE everyhitng goes fine, but when any other program tries to use the internet it acts like i'm not connected. firefox and 32 bit IE wont load pages, aol instant messanger wont connect, winamp can't find any streaming radio stations, etc.

I turned off my windows firewall to see if that was causing the issues and nothing changed.

any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated

ok, do you have a service pack 2? if you do, try installing that and see what happens, maybe your programs are having compatability issues. Ask around and see if anyone else is having these problems (at your university) if they do, talk to your IT person. thats all i can think of right now.
