BT Wholesale redirect
I have seen this problem queried elsewhere on this site, but with no successful outcome. The user was with BT Internet and using IE6, I think, and was getting exactly the same experience as me.
In both Firefox 1.5 (my normal browser) and IE6 (yuk) I am intermittently getting redirected to an obscure web page called BT Wholesale. Its IP (and URL in fact) is 194.74.65.98.
This does not happen, however, when I surf within AOL - I hate doing so and normally connect wirelessly and fire up Firefox, but this issue has started to propogate since just after Xmas. Its definitely intermittent, as I can sometimes get through to the page I want, but certainly predominant.
I have run Ad-Aware, SpyDoctor, MS Spyware, AOL Spyeware and Spybot, but found nothing of any significance apart from the odd tracking cookie that gets fixed and doesn't usually reappear.
I don't think its a normal hi-jack as such, but wondered if anyone could help or has had experience of this? If it helps, the text of the page says:
You have been connected to this page due to one of the following reasons. You must now shut down your browser and Internet applications before attempting to reconnect.
1. The BTWholesale access circuit to your Service Provider is currently down.
Your service should be resumed soon.
Or
2. You are testing your local connection to BT using
‘bt_test_user@startup_domain’
Or
3. You are testing your connection to your Service Provider using ‘bt_test_user@domain’ where domain is your Service Provider domain name.
Or
4. Your Service Provider is currently unable to accept your connection request please wait until service is restored or contact your Service Provider for further information.
Or
5. You have attempted to access an invalid Service Provider domain.

There is also a Close Window button on the oage that I haven't tried for obvious reasons!

This occurred on one of my home PC's, but not the other - even though they both use the same BT ISP.
I got arround the problem by clicking the 'Close' button on that screen, then when prompted to allow the window to close I decline. This then takes me to my desired location.
