A strange internet connection problem...
Hi all,
My problem is this:
I can connect to my ISP (Virgin) with no problem. The icon in my system tray says that I am connected, at 2.2 Mbps etc...as per normal.
However, I am unable to connect to ANY web page. This occurs with Firefox and I.E.
Also, Outlook is unable to connect to my mail server. In fact, all my apps. (ICQ, Antivirus etc.) behave as if I am NOT connected to the internet.
This has been happening for 4 days. Prior to this, I had no problems, and have not downloaded any software.
I have run tests on AVG anti-virus and Ad-Aware and they come up clear.
I have also tried a System Restore to a point a week ago yet this made no difference also.
I have also tried (all with no success):
winsockfix.exe;
Spy Bot search and destroy;
ipconfig /flushdns;
disabling my firewall.
Any ideas? It seems my machine is clear of malware, and viruses...do I have to re-install Windows? Will this work?
Help!

Have you tried going to the safe mode with networking? Try and see if it works there! Also make sure that the ISP didn't make any "quiet changes" to your account/service. What kind of internet connections is it (DSL or Dial-Up?)

HI,
I've tried just about everything - with no success. So I did a re-install of Windows yesterday and everything now works again. Most strange....
Thanks anyway!
