hi,
recently lost all connection to the internet, a prob that was resolved by reinstalling my router. I am now able to establish a connection, however seemed to be unable to access a high number of sites. I have since disables the firewall that was built into my router, which helped to an extent, although i am still having trouble a lot of sites.
Does anyone have any suggestions? So far i have ensured time and date on my PC is accurate (as apparently SSL certificates have an expiry date and this can cause probs). Have also checked my cipher strength - is ove 128 bit. On tools>internet options>advanced, the SSL and TLS options are all checked. I have tried deleting all cookies, offline content/temp files and increasing the cache size. I have enabled third party browser extensions in the same section (at the advice of my router provider) and defaulted security settings for trusted sites. I dont have a third party firewall - only WINXP's built in one. I have cleared the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) slate and AutoComplete history.
This is pretty annoying! Can anyone PLEASE help?

What happens when you try & cannot access sites? The 404 error? DNS error?
This is a long shot but might as well try:
To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
• Shdocvw.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll

thanks very much, unfortunately i have tried this before and it has no effect. I have also tried System restoring to an earlier date, no joy here either... i am starting to run out of ideas!!
the message after an epic delay in loading, is "Cannot find server or DNS Error". This occurs on about 25% of sites that i try and access, which confuses me far more than all or nothing happening would!

Wouldn't hurt to run a HijackThis log:
Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
(Not in this section please).
