    My computer doesn't like Firefox

Good evening to the DAL community. This is my first post.
A few technical details to begin with.

Computer: Acer 3600GT with Intel P4.
Windows XP Home pre-installed, with Service Pack 2.
    Open Office 1.1.4
    McAfee Anti-virus
    Black Ice PC Protection

    Operator: Runs NTCI program
    (Near-Total Computer Illiteracy)

So much for the introduction. Here's my problem: I was downloading Firefox, and it seemed to be going well, but when it finished I got an Illegal System DLL Relocation message. The relocation occurred because DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\KERNEL32.dll occupies the address range for Windows system DLL. Is there a plain English translation, please? And a way to gain my computer's co-operation? The download took about two hours (dial-up, Lord it's slow) and with nothing to show at the end of it I was fairly steamed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what version of firefox where you downloading. firefox can be buggy but it beats explorer hands down. or you could get an old version of netscape. other than that sounds like a program conflict with your libraries.

    GP,
As it turns out the problem wasn't the computer but the Black Ice. It was refusing to accept the download because it wasn't on the list of protected items.
Solution is embarrassingly simple. A second message comes up behind the first, when you click on that one it offers Install Mode. Click that button, then when the new software is installed Black Ice updates and adds the new entries. RTID Error - Read The Instructions, Dummy!
Once again my talent for finding the hard way has asserted itself. But thanks for the suggestion - and you're right, Firefox is better than IE.

Have you got the IE view extention? I can't get mine to work. I hate having to open IE to look at sites that won't work in firefox.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
that is conglomerate that is microsoft. websites that run exlusivly on Microsoft servers will sometimes only work with IE. or certain features will be disabled if you use firefox. go to aol.com with firefox and you wont see a log in for your user name and id. but if you use IE youll see it. the best thing i can tell you is to just download the must extensions for your FireFox like the MaC video viewer, adobe extension, and flash plug ins. click
    plugins
