Arrow Calling all computer geniuses, I need some advice here.

OK, I've just about had enough of AOL, its problem after problem and its drving me mad, and as I'm not sure who to ask, I thought I'd ask the clever people here.

What is the best ISP, I want a minimum of 1mbps but I don't want a download limit restricting me too much, but becuase I don't know how the download limit works, and what it affects, I don't know what I should be going for, and as AOL had unlimited download limit (the only good thing) its never been an issue.

So with all your vast knowledge of the computer world and the internet, what is the best ISP, which one should I go for?

    Thanks dudes.

I am with freedom2Surf on their connect plus package. I can highly recommend them. There is loads of information about ISPs on the ADSL guide website.

Freedom to surf seems like a very good ISP, never heard of it before, but it also seems to be the highest rated on the adsl guide too. Can i just confirm, as I'm not very good at internet information, where it says capacity or is it bandwith usage, and it says 10GB, I mean is that enough, as I practically leave the internet on all day even if i'm not on it, plus where it says uncapped capacity for 27.99 a month on a yearly contract, does that give me unlimited downloads etc. Also do the downloads include limwire downloads?

One more thing, does it contain a free email address, like AOL?

    From their FAQ's page:

Is there a download cap on Freedom2Surf?
No, there are no download limits per day, month or anything at all like that apart from on the Connect Lite, Connect and Connect Plus packages which come with 2GB, 10GB and 50GB caps respectively.

So it's 50GB for the package I am on. We have 4 pcs on our network and they are on constantly and we do a lot of up and downloading. My stats for October were....

28,070.6 MBytes Any downloading between 1am and 6am isn't counted.

There didn't used to be a limit but a few people were abusing the system and spoiling it for the rest of us.

Unless you are a very heavy downloader 50GBs should be plenty.
All downloading you do is counted as usage including limewire and P2P.

You get 20 free email addresses.
