    Stuck please help

Hi our computer was fine until we installed the updated Norton antivirus programme. Now it is so slow and keeps freezing. The hard drive sounds like it is running all the time and takes like 5 mins to open one page.We have run virus checkers and it is fine but it is practically unusable as it is so slow,
Please help as i am not that computer literate,
    thanks

    What exactly did you install?

    Can you uninstall it?

    What is your Operating System?

If XP have you tried a System Restore?

    Also:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).

I don;t think it will let me post a hijack log as it wont open or download anything, I am on my work computer at the moment. I can't get into anything on it, so what do I do? It has a firewall but i have tried changing all the settings and it still wont work, damn Norton.

So this was installed as an on-line download? No CD?

Did you save the download to your hard drive?

Try turning OFF all Norton apps that appear on the task bar. Down on the lower right of the screen right click the icons & EXIT any Norton or Symantec.
You should at least see the Firewall; The AV; & Automatic Update.

You might also try to search the Symantec site:
    http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/consumer.html

    Also possible phone contact:
    http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/support_options.html
    phone support

    $29.95 per incident
(Fee may be waived if Support Representative determines that the issue was caused by the product.)

Symantec will perform a quick system scan at no cost to help solve your problem before you contact paid phone support.
The latter option is back on the first link:

Scan, detect, and troubleshoot product issues
Need a faster way to solve product issues? The Automated Support Assistant will quickly detect product or subscription issues, and deliver a fast solution.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
That seems to verify that the problem was the Norton upgrade.

I would suggest contacting Norton. Turning it off was just a test.

You still might want to try a HijackThis log if it will load now.
