    Wireless Problems

    Hi everyone !

Once again I need ur brains Here at my house I have 2 computers. My computer is connected to a netgear WGR614 router, and the computer downstairs is Wi-Fi using a Netgear WG111 ( 54 Mbps )to connect to the network. Our internet connection is around 1 Gig.
We have had this set up for a while, but recently the computer downstairs ( the Wi-Fi one ) loses connection every now and then ( not very often, but more often ) and is sometimes a bit slow.. Now I know running both computers at the same time on the internet will slow it down, but we have done this since the network was set up with no real problems.
I think the problem is the signal strength which, I believe, could cause connection problems and slowness if too low ( and I have noticed it is mostly a low signal strength ). Could anyone with more brains than me answer these questions for me?

1/ Does my conclusion sound probable? and if so do you know if I can get some kind of signal booster?

2/ What do you think could explain this?

3/ If I were to get a signal booster ( if they exist ) would it also be worth getting a faster internet connection? Maybe the WG111 is too slow?

Many thanks in advance for your help I know I'm a pain....

Well, for most wireless cards, if not all, you can buy a new wireless aerial. These may often boost reception and may even come with a lead so you can place the aerial nearer the router.

I find often with my Buffalo Wireless just moving some object out of the signal path will double reception and Internet Speed

Try moving Things around or buy an aerial and your signal may be boosted.
