    Disabling links

When I point to link ( image or text) a letterbox shows with the url address. It's annoying and can cover over other items on the page. I want to disable this function. My OS is windows xp and I use explorer and usually opera.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks !

It makes sense. Try changing this setting first off:

Control Panel | Folder Options | View

scroll way down, and un-tick the Show pop-up description

    I found this for Opera:

In Advanced Preferences -> Browsing, disable Show tooltips.
