Reconnect due to dropped line

    Reconnect because line dropped

I constantly have to reconnect because of my line being dropped. It normally happens if I do more than one thing at a time. Could it be a hardware or software problem?

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously?

One possibility if you're running an open e-mail program?

If so check the send/receive settings. Most have an option to "hang-up" after checking mail.

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.

Yes, things were ok previously. I think my modem is quite old if that helps? I could check if you tell me how.

I use the hotmail webpage, not outlook so I dont think there is send/receive settings.
