    Unhappy Proxy Problem

    Hello all

I have a problem with setting windows xp proffessional to use a proxy before connecting to the net. I have tried all the usual lan settings but nothing works. every time i use the settings in internet explorer and check the box to use my proxy(anonymous proxy), internet explorer just ignores this and connects to any site directly.

I have also tried to use three packages(jap, multiproxy and proximitron) but none of them work. Ive used mozilla and its fine with my proxy setup, just seems internet explorer doesnt want to behave.

really would like some help on this one.

    Frank

Are you enabling the proxy before you open IE?

the only way i know how to enable one is through the settings from tools menu on IE. I assume its enabled another way for network managers to control networks but i only use the one computer and dont know any other way to enable it.

Does anyone else know how to enable my proxy settings? I've done google searches and none of the solutions help. The group policy settings and tweaking the registry didnt work.

My computer has no spyware or trojans of any kind and i am only a month into a clean install of xp pro. I've never been able to set the proxy from day one!

    Please help if you can

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Thanks but still nothing that works yet. I've tried many google searches and my head's burning up from the googling efforts but everything I've tried just will not work.

I've used programs and tried creating registry values like:
    ProxyEnable set to 1
    ProxyServer set to 207.248.240.118:80

I've put these values in all parts of the registry ie (HKCU,HKLM,HKUSERS-Default, HKCurrentConfig-software. Still not working.

If I finally find a solution I will post it here for others.

    Thanks
