    Hi,

I am tryin to access a webpage called www.myspace.com

Previously this was working fine, and then all of a sudden I stopped being able to access it. The next day it was working fine, and then for 2 days now it says that it cannot connect to the sever, both through IE 6 and BT Yahoo browser.

I have called my ISP who said there is nothing wrong with my account, they have also run through all security settings to check that it all ok. I have done a virus check and run spyware and adware programs to delete all of those and done a system restore.

Today I have done a defrag, and a disk clean as suggested by a friend, but still to no avail.

I do not have any problems with any other websites, just this one in particular - which doesnt bother me as much, but i would like to know why it is stopping me. The website isnt down, as other people can access it, and no-one has tampered with settings as im the only person who uses this computer.

I'm really tearing my hair out, as my ISP seem to think it is my computer, someone else suggested it could be a corrupt file, and I really really dont know what to do now.

Does anyone have any suggestions or have any idea as to why this could happen. I dont want to reinstall windows, but would something like this possibly help? It not just because of this one website, its more the reason behind it, and also I dont want this to happen in the future with other websites or anything like that....

I'm very very very confused...could anyone please help me???

Any replies would be really really really appeciated.

    Thanks!

Are you sure that this site is not blocked by your firewall?

Is the behavior any different if you paste www.myspace.com in the address bar?

    Have you cleared your cookies?

Is: cannot connect to the server the full & exact error message?

Also read this for any clues:

I have turned off my firewall to try and access it.

It doesnt change if i paste it into the message bar, and my cookies temp files etc have been cleared.

The message says "Cannot find server" and then in the actual page says "The page cannot be displayed"

In the link u gave me, i saw about renaming the wsock32.dll file

It says to rename the files not the windows/system folder

i have about 4 files with that name not in the windows/system32 folder, do i rename them? and what do i call them? would i be able to rename them back if this causes any problems? Do u know what that file is?

Sorry, I'm so confused, but thankyou so so so much for replying so quickly.

    DLL File: wsock32 or wsock32.dll
    DLL Name: WinSock API Library

    Description:
File that contains the Windows Sockets API used by most Internet and network applications to handle network connections.
    There are normally 2: 1 in system32 & 1 in system32\dllcache

    Where are you finding them?

Right click & rename: say: wsock32a; wsock32b; etc. & yes you can always rename them again.

Thanks I will try this later on when I get home from work.

Is there any other reason why just ONE site wouldnt work though? This is what I'm confused about more. Is there any other avenues I can explore?

It doesn't make much sence; unless you are blocking it or it is blocking you.

If your cookies are clear it could only be blocking you via your ISP address if for some reason the site chose to block you.
Or in the same vein your ISP changed addresses to previously blocked ones.

Otherwise if your browser settings have no restrictions & you are not blocking that site with your firewall I can't think of anything off the bat.

Will keep it in mind & maybe someone else will have an idea.

    Can you get here:

    http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...eaction=splash

Or try opening a command prompt start/run/cmd
    Then type in: ping myspace.com

    What happens? Any reply?

Does that mean anything to you?

    Its really frustrating me now.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Another try: from the command prompt:

    ipconfig /flushdns

Also try browsing some of these threads:
