IE will not load any "link pages"

Ive read many threads on my problem and performed all that was mentioned. I have yet come to a resolution and need further assistance.

I purchased a new CPU 2 weeks ago, and all was fine with my SBC yahoo DSL and Internet Explorer.

This last weekend my DSL went down and they replaced a port on their end. It took them about 4 days.

The problem started when my DSL finally got back up running.

I use IE. The problem is, ANY link that I click on ("link" meaning one that pops up a separate IE window) will not display unless I click "stop" and the "refresh."
Now, I notice that when I click on the link to bring up the new page, the address does NOT apear untill I click "stop." After I click "stop" the address will apear and then I can refresh to bring the appropriate page.
I can surf just fine if "links" direct me to the new site in the same IE window without poping up a second window.
This is a problem because of that reason AND the MAIN problem is viewing my AOL.COM mail. The email links do not display the "back, forward, stop, refresh, ect" so I cannot complete the "stop" & "refresh" trick. I have important emails to read, so its becomming quite a neccessity to get this fixed.

    Thankyou for all your help.
    PS. Nice site!

Here is a quick fix try:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.

    2. In the Open box, type:

    regsvr32 urlmon.dll

    3. Click OK, and then click OK again when you receive the following message:

    DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded.

Yea I had already tried that after reading that tip on a previous post. Still NO luck.
For example, when I click on the "these rules" link, It opens up another IE box but it stays blank and there is not an address that appears untill I click "stop" and the address will appear and then I can "refresh" to bring the rules up.

    Really weird, I dont know.

    Thanks for the help.

    Try system file checker.

    Start - Run

Then type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and /)

Have your XP disc handy as you will be promted for it.
