    Some URL's don't open

When I try to go to "https://jobs1.quickhire.com/scripts/uscg.exe/rundirect?Org=1&Job=2038" The response I get is "The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." I know the site is operational, and I've tried various combinationss of settings, but am still unable to access this site (and others like it) I'm using AOL 9.0, IE6.0 SP1, and XP. Any suggestions? I could really use a job...Thanks you guys

Try cleaning out your temp internet files and cookies in internet options. Also go to start/run and type in cmd you should get a window pop up. Type in ipconfig /flushdns exactly as it appears and hit enter. You should see the illustration here http://www.updatexp.com/dns-windows-xp.html
    Then try the site again.

Thanks Tassie Devil, but no luck. I typed in the "CMD" function, but I didn't modify anything. Was I supposed to? Any other suggestions?

I just copied the link you gave to the site and went straight in.
After you typed cmd in the run box you should type in ipconfig /flushdns in the box that comes up and hit enter. It should then come up saying it has succesfully flushed the cache.

Hi Tassie...Tried your suggestions to no avail. The only thing I can figure is that it's a secure site, and that's why I can't get there. Other sites work. Please help.

All other sites seem to be accessable. Secure sites will not open (any of them). I've tried a variety of different combinations in Internet Properties box with no luck. I'm using AOL9, XP, IE6 SP1, and Zone Alarm. I've used the "cmd" function and cleared my ipconfig; cleared cookies, history ect. I could REALLY use your help you guys. Thanks again for all you've done (for everybody).

    https://jobs1.quickhire.com/scripts/...Org=1&Job=2038

Opens for me with no problem.

The fact that it is an https: SSL site has nothing to do with accessing the site. That protocol just protects the info that you may exchange with the site.

SSL or Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many Web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http:.

Are your IE settings on Medium & Default?

Do you have any sites blocked? Either in IE or ZA or AOL?

You might try the latest updates from Windows Updates.

Go to Control panel/internet options/advanced and check that the items ticked look similar to the ones in the pic attached here.
