I have moved your post here from Windows 2000 hopefully for a better response.

Just to note that your OS is 2K.

Were you successfull in removing the hotfix?

Do you remember the hotfix # ?

What exactly did you do in order to repair/reinstall IE?

What error messages do you get?

thank you jephree... there were 3 new hotfixes which i deleted - can't remember #s though. that didn't work so i repaired ie from add/remove progs - no go so then reinstalled it from same place ending up with ie 5.. still no go...then reinstalled ie 6.. and browser STILL not working. am too scared to use pc with no updates so let update do its thing. the only thing that was changed when this prob started was the hotfixes so i assumed they were at fault but maybe not. none of ie based browsers - avant/maxthon will work - only firefox.
there are no error messages except the browser can't find server one.

These problems are so common as well as diverse in origin.

Are your Security & Privacy settings set to Medium? Are your IE Advanced Options set to Default?
