Internet Explorer Header

Internet Explorer Header
I'll call this the "header".........At the top of the screen it shows "Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Earthlink, Inc." But, I don't have Earthlink as a dialup anymore. I have PeoplePC. So why doesn't the "header" show "Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by PeoplePC"?? Why didn't the "header" change when I changed ISP's? Can I change this? Do I want to change this? Thank you for your help! Meemoe

The text in the "Application Window Title Bar", to give it it's correct name, is set in the registry. When you installed your Earthlink dial-up software, that installed a new version of Internet Explorer that Earthlink had customised so that it has their name in the Title Bar. It's a common trick - I used to do it myself when I built PCs for customers and added the latest version of IE - "Internet Explorer provided by Future Systems" !
When you changed to PeoplePC, they didn't provide a customised version of Internet Explorer so the Title Bar text didn't change. It's not a problem at all. It has nothing to do with how you connect and your PC is no longer related to any connection with Earthlink.
If you really want to change it in the registry, I'll tell you how but dabbling with the registry isn't something that you ought to do unless you're experienced and you have to do it!

DJ is correct, stay out of the registry. Click HERE and get this little VBS script from Doug Knox's site. It will allow you to change the IE & OE title bars to whatever you like. Have fun! HTH

Hmmm
I could have given Meemoe MY little VBS script but I thought that was probably riskier than talking through it myself!

Sorry DJ just trying to help

Thanks DJ and Bear.......for the information regarding the "Title Bar" and the "Registry! No, I would rather not make any changes, myself. I barely get around the internet! It's a wonder I do as well as I do. But thanks for the offer to walk me through it. You guys are princes!
