Some pages/images wont load in I.E.

Hello guys, first of all let me say you that your website is very nice and usefull

    Ok, here is my problem:
I am currently using Mozilla Firefox and everything is ok, but when I try using Internet Explorer some pages or images of them dont load and a page with a red cross appear.

I think Mozilla Firefox is better than Internet Explorer but sometimes, for example in MSN Messenger, when I click on a link it sends me to Internet explorer and the website doesnt show up, it says: The page cannot be displayed.

So I want to fix this problem or make these links open with Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer.

    Thanks.

First off links in Messenger will open IE. Nothing you can do about that.
You can right click the link & Copy Shortcut then Paste into Firefox address bar to open in Firefox.

The red X error is common & depends on alot of variables.

    This is one troubleshooter:

To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps: 1. Quit all programs that are running.
    2. Click Start, and then click Run.
    3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
    4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
    • Shdocvw.dll
    • Msjava.dll
    • Actxprxy.dll
    • Oleaut32.dll
    • Mshtml.dll
    • Browseui.dll
    • Shell32.dll

Windows XP and Windows 2000 only
Restart the computer to enable the changes to take effect.
Another is to delete your Temp files & check that your IE options are set to default.

It is also pssible that the web site you are going to no longer holds those images.

    Hope this helps.

Nope, I cleaned Temp files and restored IE options to default and did what you said to me about the .dlls.
Nothing worked. It can't be the possible cause that the website no longer have those images with the X mark because I can watch them through Mozilla Firefox.

    Any other solution?

    Thanks

Did IE ever work properly for you?
    Is this a new problem?
If so you can try a system restore.

Also what is your Operating System?

IE did worked for me but I dont know when it started with the problems, then I changed to Mozilla Firefox.
    Its a new problem, indeed.

Well, system restore will work but its too much to ask for me because it will delete everything and restore again right? And all the installed programs and games I have right now have to be installed again.

I've tryed the reinstallation of IE in that webpage but there wasnt any good results. When I reinstalled my PC it said a info box: IE was uninstalled from this system, do you want to keep the personal settings? and clicked No. It is not working.

Here is a description of System Restore:

Use System Restore to Undo Changes if Problems Occur

It will not effect your programs unless they were installed after the point you are restoring to.

Even a full Repair Installation of XP will not effect your programs.

As to the install of IE: What was the exact error message? What happened after you chose No for settings?

Did you make the registry changes listed towards the end of the Reinstall instructions?

If I do a Repair Installation of XP with the Windows XP cd, will programs work properly without needing to install them again?

Because, as long as I know, programs will not be registered in windows as ''Installed''.

If there are any problems using the programs after a repair install of Windows XP, I will do it.

A Repair Install will Not affect your programs.
Back ups are usually recommended however.
    Here is a good guide:
    http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I have used this process numerous times with no problems.
You will need to immeadiatly install SP2 & all Critical Updates unless you create a slipstreamed XP SP2 CD as described in the above link.

If you dont slipstream then at least have SP2 downloaded on your hard drive so that you can install without having to go online.

Well that probably make the result I seek but it appears to be time taking and risky if I do something wrong. I already have another Windows XP installation on my system and in that other WinXP installation IE does work.

Is there any way to copy the IE configuration files from the other Windows XP installation to this one?

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
The instructions here are about all that is possible:

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP

Running sfc /scannow or perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP.

IE is so embedded in XP that there is not really anyway to lift it out.

Just curious: you have 2 versions of XP on the same computer? Different partitions? Any reason?
