    Angry Ie6 Sp1 Dns Error

hope every1 is doin fine. So here is the situation.
Sys crashed so had to install xp pro again, updated to sp2 and IE6 showed dns error/ cannot find the server page. WFW was givin lotta probs tat time. Somehow got over them and tested again but no luck!
Then rolled back to xp pro and tested things. They were working fine. After that I decided to have SP1 with couple of security patches. Installed sp1 and it got screwed.
I ran various ad removals, spyware, trojan removals. Checked hijackthis too. Deleted winsock and got them again but nothing working.

Atleast now it is responding.. supposingly tryin to open google the browser status bar adds www as prefix and then searches with msn, finally dns error page.

Note: Firefox is connecting, ftp servers, messengers, mail notifiers everything else is working but IE6

I just need IE for the update crap else its no use..

    Please help..

    thnx anyways

    Problem Resolved:
I rolled back to XP pro, removed all the kerio PF and other security stuff. Installed SP1, installed all the updates MEANT FOR SP1. Then I downloaded sp2 and updated it. Then I reinstalled IE, reregistered all the dll's after installing IE. Things working. planning to set up firewall in couple of days.
    New firewalls are being tested.

Thanks everyone for helping and putting up time + effort.

NOTE: SP2 eats up lotta space, windows folder using over 5GB now

    Thanks for the update Techster.

Little tip for you: I've traced huge Windows folders down to having System Restore switched on, which it is by default, particularly if you've been doing lots of updates. Whenever I set up a new XP system now, I always turn down the amount of hard disk space that is allocated to the System Restore cache. I think this is an option on one of the tabs when you right-click My Computer and go into Properties on an XP system.
