    Essential programs

    Windows XP SP1
    256 MB RAM
16 MB ATI mobility Radeon 7500
    Ethernet (DSL) internet connnection

I'm trying to make my comp run faster, and I wanted to know which services from msconfig were essential for web browsing, downloading, and playing games online.

Either I can list which services I'm running, or if you're really keen you can probably post the essential ones yourself?

I can't figure out which services I can enable or disable, so some help or guidance would be much appreciated, thank you.

    This is a good list:

And BTW: You should install SP2 & all Critical Updates from Windows Updates.

Sorry Black Viper is down for repairs

Keep checking as it is by far the best services resource on-line.

Thanks, i'm looking it over, and it does give me a good idea of what i need and don't need, so I'll work with that until blackviper comes back on, much appreciated.

I've managed to get my processes under a current total of 15, which is very reasonable at this point, since I was running about 28 processes before the guide posted on the website. So this problem is fixed, thanks.
