Re: Windows XP problem (Windows Explorer)
Thanks! It was the Spy Sweeper that caused the windows explorer encountered a problem message when I right clicked on a drive and then clicked on properties. I went to Options in Spy Sweeper and unchecked Add Sweeper Spyware to Windows Explorer Context Menu. This worked like a charm! Thanks again!!!

I have a problem with my other computer that uses Win98 1st Ed. When I go into the control panel all I see is the search light. How can I fix this problem?

Start by starting a new thread in the 98 section. There are some 98 wizards there!

jephree, can you please walk me through your Windows Explorer "fix" for Spy Sweeper? How do I get to the Context Menu that I need to switch off? I also experienced a severe degradation of performance after I installed Spy Sweeper 5.0. Thanks!

Dougie Cruise, please note that this thread was running in April 2005 so it would have been best to start a new thread referring to this one (see the D-A-L forum rules about "thread hijacking"). It was actually 1Sticks that described how he/she went about turning off the Spy Sweeper option for integrating with Windows Explorer's right-click menu. He/she described opening Spy Sweeper, selecting 'Options' (which might be on one of the menus) and then de-selecting the option labelled 'Add Sweeper Spyware to Windows Explorer Context Menu'.
I'm going to close this thread off now, in line with our policy of locking threads after the person that started it has had their issue resolved. If you require further assistance, please feel free to start your own new message thread and we will be glad to assist
