There are several things that can cause your problem. IŽll give you a list what to check and try:

    - Use an alternative browser such as FireFox or Opera (personal choice)
    - check Internet Options - General - Temp Internet Files - Settings - Select "Always"
    - disable any type of firewall running on your PC, also disable the Windows Firewall
service Start - Settings - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services
    - Use fixed DNS Servers, list of open DNS servers can be easily found on google.

What kind of Internet Connection is it ? Dialup or broadband ?

    Hi all,
Still having the same problem as before. I installed firefox, and it seems to be worse than IE...I can't access anything but the mozilla homepage, regardless of whether its a bookmark, typed or link. IE is still acting up, but its not as bad.
I did do an upgrade, but without reformating. I followed the instructions on the XP cd. I had thought about doing the special instal instructions, but those were asking for repartitioning and FAT files and stuff, so I stayed clear of that option and went with the simple one. I had to reformat my hard drive right before I sent my computer to the shop (needed a new logic board...thank god for warrenties), and I installed xp pretty much right after it got back, so there shouldn't be anything on it that I would need...right?

Only personal emails you might want to keep, and your address book - my documents if you have any letters etc. Other than that it's up to you if you want to save anythingn on to CD before a format.

I was having this problem too. If you have Norton anti-virus firewall set-up as well as windows firewall, IE wont get through. It may be that?

    Hi All,
thanks for your many suggestions. I think the problem was my firewalls. I tried disabling everything (symantec and windows IE) then reenabling them one by one. Something must have been conflicting as now everything seems to be working find. I had tried this before and it didn't work, so not sure why it worked this time (although I might have done something else and just not known it). I'm now running firefox with symantec firewall enabled. Thanks for all your help!
