MSN Messenger and Internet Problems
Hey, i'm no wizz on computers and my friend recomended this site to help me out
. Ok first problem my MSN messenger wont work it keeps coming with a message about not being able to log in and trying later, this is what it says *Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to the .net messenger service at this time. Please try again later. 80072f0d* . It has been like this for about a week now. Although it still lets me access Web Messenger and my hotmail account, I need to send some files through msn at the moment though so I am stuck on what to do. I have tried uninstalling MSN messenger then re-installing but no luck. I have tried unistalling my internet connection and re-installing it, all to no luck. I have a Speedtouch ADSL modem and running Windwos ME. Also i keep getting adverts for £1.50 game and pornographic websites, it tries to download it to my computer at the same time as the advert appears.
Sorry if this doesnt make sense
.
Will.

P.S I am using MSN 7.0 (Beta), because I though it might work but still the same problem I had with 6.2.
Thanks

. Thanks A lot.

OK, you do have a few problems in there. Click your Start Menu, then Settings, then Control Panel. When Control Panel opens, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. Look for an entry in the list called 'Mentor for IE5' or 'Mentor for Internet Explorer 5' or something like that. If you find it, highlight it in the list and click the Remove button.
Reboot, run HiJack This again (don't do anything else like connecting to the Internet beforehand) and then select the following entries to be removed:
O9 - Extra button: Mentor - {3892CA40-9B9A-11d4-8D73-00105A296A2A} - "C:\Program Files\tMentor\Mentor for IE5\IE5Help.chm" (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111113457} - file://c:\ied_s7.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111113457} - file://c:\x.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111113458} - file://c:\x.cab
Reboot and use the Internet as normal. Is it any better?
These entries look suspicious:
C:\WINDOWS\APPLICATION DATA\AEMR.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nhpa] C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\aemr.exe
Does NHPA mean anything to you?
The following entries also look dodgy. When you search for the filenames on Google, it doesn't find anything at all, which is a bit weird and makes me think that they are viruses or spyware with randomly-created names. If they were legitimate programs files, you would expect that someone in the world somewhere would have mentioned them!
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wsqkltehq] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\xuctsph.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [juzyzyh] C:\WINDOWS\juzyzyh.exe
Can anyone else offer some advice on the above 2 entries?
-
P.S. I'm going away for a couple of days so I'd appreciate it if another member could take over with assisting in this thread if possible.

Restart hijackthis and put a check against the following.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wsqkltehq] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\xuctsph.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [juzyzyh] C:\WINDOWS\juzyzyh.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nhpa] C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\aemr.exe
O4 - Startup: Mentor Tray Icon.lnk = C:\Program Files\tMentor\Mentor for WinMe\minitray.exe
O9 - Extra button: Mentor - {3892CA40-9B9A-11d4-8D73-00105A296A2A} - "C:\Program Files\tMentor\Mentor for IE5\IE5Help.chm" (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111113457} - file://c:\ied_s7.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111113457} - file://c:\x.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111113458} - file://c:\x.cab
Reboot your pc.
As DJNafey said.....
I it doesn't work try it in safe mode.
Report back.......with an update

Is your Firewall Blocking it?? if so try your firewall settings
If not I just googled and came up with this
HERE
