Not able to view any web pages thru IE

    Hi,
While I was searching for some website thru google search, I clicked on a link (I don't remember which, now) and immediately a small dialogue box appeared for a second and then disappeared. But from that moment on, I am not able to view ANY web page through Internet Explorer. It just says 'The page cannot be displayed'. So now I have accessed this site after installing Opera, and that works fine. How can I set right IE? Can anybody help?

Hi Spud, Thanks, but that article talks only about not being able to connect to a website thru a link. But my problem is, even if I type a full id in the address bar, it doesn't connect. But I am online and my messenger works alright right thru.

    Hi Spud,
I found out from Windows help that the file winsock.dll is not there where it should be. Infact, the Help Centre says "If the results list includes more than one file with this name, rename all versions of the file that are not located in your Windows\System32\dllcache or Windows\System64\dllcache folder. ' But I could not find even one file with this name, and the search results are a blank. But even now, only IE browser is not working, but Opera works well. What can be done about this?

Yes, I did, and he asked me to update XP to SP2. but my friends are finding a lot of problems after upgrading to SP2. So Iam a little reluctant to do that...
