Problem with double messenger
Hi,
I recently upgraded my Msn messenger from v.4.7 to v.6.2. But after the upgrade, I find the older version is still there and after logging in once, it signs out saying (in the pop-up box) 'you are already signed in in another computer' ! After clicking the box again, it signs in correctly. Is there any way to uninstall the older messenger? Can anybody please help?

4.7 is "built-in" to XP.
It can be "uninstalled" by 3rd party software or registry edits.
Once you start using 6.2, 4.7 should stay in the backgound but if you want the edits let us know & we can dig them up.
This program XP-Anti-Spy offers you the choice to eliminate 4.7

Hi,
Thanks Jephree. I'll try XP-Anti-Spy and let you know. The problem is, here 4.7 is not in the background. It interferes with the 6.2.
And is running this XP-antispy safe? it won't uninstall any important dlls from xp?

anti spy is totally configurable & easy. It has default settings to restore all xp defaults etc.
It is basically a services shortcut but it can also turn off 4.7 as well as other "built in" xp features.
With messenger deleted I only see it as this:
& this has nothing to do with 6.2

It worked! Thanks Jephree. I tested and now there is no interference and no trace of 4.7. Thanks a lot.
