Is this JavaScript or Java you are talking about?

I pretty Sure it's the scripting as some web pages are not working properly or will not open at all, eg. Hotmail which i belive uses javascript. The problem started whilst removing spy ware, namely 'elite bar' which was dug in deep. I've got rid of all that now thankfully. Some reg keys had to be deleted manually. I've tried 'scripten.exe' down loaded from MS and down loading 'j2re-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe' from java, but this has made no differance.
    Any ideas?

Perhaps something in the following may help:

JavaScript pages not loading IE 6.0

    From a broader search here:

    javascript not running

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I'm running xp sp2 with aol and I am experiencing similar problems....
But some sites will run javascript and others wont (eg ladbrokes.com wont but sportinglife.co.uk will)
Have tried all sorts..emptying cache, restting internet security settings, regsvr32 stuff,
    but nothing seems to work.
If javascript never ran I could see there may be an inherant problem, but only fails on certain sites....please help
