Internet Access Not Working
I just recently re-installed XP on my computer cause I was having some problem with games and settings. When I got done and tried to go online, it gave me the "page cannot be displayed." The internet cord was plugged in and it was fine but I don't know how to set it up or what to do. Can someone help me?
By the way, I have the Comcast modem in one room with a router splitting it all the way to the other side of my house.

Is the computer actually on-line?
Are you getting the page error from within IE (or your browser)?
Do you see you connections under Start > Connect to
Or are you unable to make a connection at all?
What about your E-mail program? Does it work?

Thats my point, I don't know if it's online because when im in the room with the router, the light says it's on, but on the IE it says page is not found.
No I have not tried anything with email but I just re-installed XP so I don't think I have anything.

On the Start Menu do you have a tab that says "Connect to"?
If so what does it say when you choose "Show all connections"?
-
Right off the start menu, no I dont.

Pro or Home; sorry I should of asked?
Try Control Panel > Network Connections
See what is listed & check if connected or disconnected or disabled

I have XP Home.
After I clicked on Network Connections it shows 10 differnet things to click on. It didn't show connected or disconnected things.
Would this be easier if you had AIM or something?

Well I will cut to the chase of what I was moving towards:
Go to Start > Run > regedit
First off click on File then choose Export then choose as destination "My Documents". This will create a registry file just as it is in "My Documents".
If you need to restore your registry to its' present condition then you can go to this file & Import it back into your registry.
Then: Follow this path:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\RasMan\PPP\EAP]
You should only see 2 #'s there; 4 & 13 (I think); if you see the #'s 25 & 26 you need to delete them. Click 25 then delete; click 26 then delete.
Reboot & see if this lets you go.
Like altering system files, modifying the registry can be risky and D-A-L.com and its members cannot accept liability for any adverse effects caused by following advice freely given on this site.
edit for reference:
You cannot create a network connection after you restore Windows XP
