I am having trouble with my pointer speed ... i like my pointer speed to be set high but every time i reboot it reverts to the default setting. I have an intellimouse optical usb and i'm running win xp . Thx in advance for any suggestions you may have

I remember I had a similar problem years ago as I was trying to use the control panel to alter mouse speed and it would reset every time I re-booted my PC. In the end I realised when I had installed the mouse software / drivers - I had also installed a separate control button for the mouse which turned out to be the master control. This was an old Samsung mouse though so I don't know if this will apply to the intellimouse. Try looking for an extra button, sometimes in the bottom right of the screen. Sorry but that's all I can think of!

Funny thing .. there are multiple users on this computer and i noticed that the other users mouse settings were staying ... i looked for a seperate control like you suggested , with no luck ...so i just started another user account and deleted the one i was using before .. it was kind of a pain in the ass setting everything up again but my mouse works fine now .... it must have been a bug in windows or something ..or perhaps a program was installed that changed the setting at restart.
