Microphone Issues

Re: Microphone Issues
no joy at all. here's a new screengrab though as i see it has more things running than before, maybe because i have powered off and on.
oh also in sound recorder i went to audio properties and it said i have no recording device. that's probably gonna change things.

Hey,
Don't mean to jump in here but just to clarify, what sound card do you have? Did the MIC work fine before?
-
It did used to work on this sound card. I believe my sound card is a Crystal SoundFusion.

Go to Control Panel (from the Start Menu) and find the option for hardware settings and checking your sounds / audio / multimedia properties (sorry, I'm not familiar with the XP Control Panel).
Somewhere in there, there should be a screen to specify the devices that you want to use for different functions - for example, there will be an option like 'Sound playback' which will probably have the name of your sound card listed in the box as the default device to use for playing sounds. There should also be an option for recording, mic input, etc. Make sure that you've got the right device listed in there.
Does that help?
If not, I'm out of suggestions, other than that there might be a problem with your mic or sound card now where one of them needs to be replaced. I've done a big Google search on this and, after spending about half an hour going through over 100 results (even read something on a Linux site just in case!), I can't find any useful info on this.

Definitely looks like the microphone part of the sound drivers are missing / corrupted / not installed properly or your sound card has a fault and needs to be replaced.
-
Ok well any idea where I should go to get the missing/faulted drivers? I'll look around myself, but if you know a specific place where I can go, please fill me in.

Nevermind, nevermind, nevermind! Everything's fresh once more!
I found the correct driver file and BINGO BANGO we're back in bu$ine$$! Thanks bud!
P.S. - I found the driver here.
