PCI Firewire Card Not Recognised by XP
I'm baffled! I've plugged a supposed "plug and play" firewire PCI card into my PC to capture dv footage, but although the manual (if you can call it that) says Windows will tell me it's found new hardware on booting, I get nothing. These are my specs, if they help...
Asus P4VP-MX motherboard
Q-Tec PCI Firewire card
I powered off and connected the card in the bottom PCI slot (number 3, according to the m'board manual). I powered up. Nothing. I thought, "maybe it's configured it without even telling me!" So I ran some software and connected my digi cam via each of the 3 firewire sockets. Nothing. Apparently the PCI card doesn't need a driver and IS XP compatible. Can anyone think where I'm going wrong? Would appreciate any advice! I'm relatively competent with PCs, but this has beaten me.

Perhaps checking Windows Update for a Microsoft-certified driver might help?
