    Might be a faulty mouse itself, cable wise. I had that problem too and just got another mouse. I tend to always break my mouse because of the way the wire hangs. (Assuming it is not a wireless though)

    if you're jarbled sentence-like structure translates to the actual pointer on the screen, you just need to set the speed slower. go into your control panel and pick printers and other hardware then click mouse and go from there.

    Varygoode,

    You may wish to review your response as:

    1. Being disrespectful to other member's does not fit in with the friendly atmosphere that we currently enjoy at D-A-L.com;
    2. Your answer may not be the correct solution;
    3. Your answer does not give the correct instructions for what you were trying to explain;

    well i'm just trying to save this guy from buying another mouse because his pointer on the screen is moving too fast, it's a simple problem to fix, and on windows xp you do indeed do to control panel and click printers and other hardware then pick mouse and set the new pointer speed to a slower speed. so in response to you, DJNafey, in the order you responded to me:

    1. i apologize for coming off as being disrespectful when i said "jarbled sentence-like structure", what i meant was i didn't completely understand what he meant, but it looked most like his pointer on the screen was moving too fast.

    2. anyone's answer may not be the correct solution, and it seems you only singled me out because of the disrespectfulness, (and yes that's a word i looked it up ) which is completely understandable.

    3. i know the instructions are right for Windows XP, that is, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, click Mouse, then reset the pointer speed to a slower speed. if he has another operating system, would you be so kind as to instruct him on how to change the pointer speed on that, because i won't remember how on anything besides xp.

    i only responded because people were saying to get a new mouse or change batteries and junk, which costs money, i'm just trying to save him a buck or two, just like dialing down the center with 1-800-CALL-ATT. have a good one!

    Yes, I apologise. I misread what you said. Your instructions were correct for Windows XP

    The instructions for earlier operating systems are as follows:

    Click Start Menu
    Click Settings
    Click Control Panel
    Double-click Mouse

    In the appropriate area (the Motion tab on Windows 2000), adjust the mouse speed from Fast to Slow ..... or somewhere appropriate within the range.

    This screen may also have an 'Acceleration' area. Set this to the minimum value ('None' on Windows 2000).

    Click 'OK' to save the new settings.

    NIGHTOWL, is your problem resolved? If so, or if not, can you let me know? I'd like to find out if what I told you to do fixed it.
