can I add more memory?

Re: can I add more memory?

"Hijacking" a thread means taking over someone's conversation. "D-A-L.com user 1" starts off a conversation (a "message thread") about their problem and then "D-A-L.com user 2" posts a reply saying "oh yeah, I've got a similar problem - can someone help me out as well". 99% of the time, it turns out that user 2's problem goes off at a different tangent to user1's problem and suddenly we're having two conversations about two different problems and everyone gets very confused about who's talking to who. Either that or we help user 2 and forget all about user 1, who gets very upset. Or we carry on helping user 1 and user 2 gets ignored!

It's not quite bad enough to bring back hanging .... but it is MUCH easier for each thread to concentrate on just one person's problem

I can see, and do appreciate, what you're saying DJ.

To be conversational, rather than arguing against 'anti-hijacking', I have been in newsgroups where there have been complaints because "we answered this yesterday/last week (whatever)".

More specifically, I had noted before I posted that the thread had come to a natural end (from Joey's perspective) in May. With it now being August I really did hope that Joey might come back with what his experiences of upgrading our very similar systems had subsequently been.

I do apologize however, for not seeing the "Announcement: PLEASE DO NOT HIJACK OTHERS POSTS!" post!

Initially, this was because I found Joey's post through Google. Since then, however, I have been to the "General Hardware Issues" page and it simply didn't catch my eye (oops!)

We all make bloopers on joining a new group (I should know, I've had a few 'slaps' myself), google is a magnificent way of finding info - it's my default IE page and the method I use for finding a lot of the answers I give (my secret's out). Unfortunately as far as threads go, it does drop you into the middle of them, so it's worthwhile checking the full thread out.

Stay with us dude, the journey for knowledge can be fun - once we work the rules out.

Good advice Hippy - I use Google too (blind 'em with science!) and I will stay!
