graphics card problem?
my crt display has shadows or stripes trailing every icon on the screen ,is my card (geeforce 256) on its last legs?.

Do you have another monitor you can hookup to rule out the monitor as the problem? Also have you tried installing the latest drivers for your video adapter?
-
yes I, swapped monitor same problem.
-
P.S card refused to take updated drivers after 1 update because of power requirements.

I had a problem which sounds pretty much the same as what you are experiencing at the moment.I tried everything until giving up and presuming it was faulty. The card was new and reported in the end to be faulty, confirmed by Dabs as they test returned products such as graphics cards before refunding.
Just a thought have you moved any cables i.e from your monitor or moved anything like a telephone near to it? Plugging the monitor into a power strip and not the wall socket can be enough to cause display problems too.
I had display issues in the past that took me ages to work out, in the end it turned out to be the monitor cable running over the phone line and dsl filter causing interference.
Worth a try.

If you're running Windows XP, I've got a feeling there's some kind of 'shadow effect' option in the display settings. If you've got XP, right-click the Desktop and select Properties from the menu. Click through each of the tabs (sorry, I can't remember which one it's on) and see if you can find the option that I'm talking about.

Just to let any one intrested know the result. Fan stopped working ,fried the card, thanks all
