    Smile cursor freezes

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this and I am kind of scared that this will sound like a stupid question, or you won't be able to understand what I am describing. Recently there have been several times a day when I go to move my mouse and the cursor won't move, and I have to turn off the computer and restart it and then the cursor will work ok. I am wondering if the fault could be in the mouse, that I might need to purchase a new mouse, or if it is possibly something wrong with my computer. I would appreciate if you could help me out with this problem. Thanks.

Please provide a little more information if you don't mind.
    Windows version?
Is this a new problem or an ongoing problem?
Any new hardware or software installed recently?
Is your mouse a PS2 mouse or USB?
Is your mouse an optical or a ball mouse?
BTW the only stupid questions IMHO are those that go unasked.

Thanks for your reply. Windows version is XP and this is a new problem. I have not installed any new hardware of software recently. Mouse is PS2 and is a ball mouse.

Ok thanks for the information, your best first step would be to click Cleaning your mouse - How to clean - Mouse Problems If the instructions and suggestions there don't help let us know.
