i was running xp but then i had a problem and installed ME onto it. Then while using windows ME i tried to install xp, it got to copying installation files and then froze. Now i am still on ME, and sice that my dvd-rom and cd-rw drives do not work. The cd-rw drive can play audio discs, and one or two cd-roms bt the dvd doesnt plllay anything. please help thanks

are you upgrading to XP or downgrading to ME, you are VERY confusing

Goodness me - you're running Windows Millennium and, as if that wasn't troublesome enough, you're halfway through a Windows XP install as well?!

I can't say that I've completely understood how far it has got but it sounds to me like it has started trying to upgrade your drivers or something

In my opinion, you're currently somewhere between a rock and a hard place! If I were you, I would try the XP upgrade again. If it doesn't work second time around, I would be planning to format the hard disk and start afresh with XP
