    usb hub with enough power

sorry about the title but I don't know what else to call it.

I've been through various brands of usb hubs trying to find one that's stable. My last one, "currently in use," is an iogear usb hub and card reader modelGUH284R. I've tried other hub, "belkin and others only to have them randomly drop connected devices and then reconnect, "like someone unplugged it and plugged it back in."

For the last 6 months I've had several devices plugged into 3 of the 7 ports without a hickup. yesterday I plugged my apc backup into it and today it alerted me it didn't have enough power.

Has anyone found a usb hub with more than 4 ports that doesn't complain.

    This might be worth investigating:

    Power Requirements
    • Self Powered -12.6W, 3 A @ 5 VDC
    Power supply
    • Output 5V 3A

3A (3000mA): Minor USB devices typically need under 100mA per device with major ones generally needing 500mA per device.

That's the key - you need to ensure the hubs you buy have their own external power supplies.
