    Computer won't turn on

A few days ago my cat jumped onto my computer and the side fell off. The computer turned off but when I restarted it turned back on. A little bit later I had to turn it off again but now it won't turn back on. The monitor is on and displaying a windows xp logo but the computer won't turn on or off. I also tried unplugging the computer but that doesn't do anything either. Also, I'm having trouble putting the side back on...

What do you mean unplugging does not do anything?

Note Google: stuck on XP screen

I advise against reseating the CPU or RAM at this time - especially the CPU. If the CPU was bad or not seated correctly, you would not get as far as you get - plus, reseating the CPU involves MAJOR risks, cautions about should have been offered with the suggestion! Removing the heatsink fan assembly can be a challenge in itself. The TIM would need cleaning and a fresh layer applied. Power needs to be removed and ESD is a MAJOR, MAJOR concern - as it is with RAM.

Resetting the BIOS may be helpful - but again - requires precautions to prevent further damage.

Let's wait for the OP to return before offering any more advice - especially advice that comes with significant risks.
