Upgrading video card on my Gateway FX540B 209

How do I tell if my desktop has the correct PCI-E and if ts 16x or what not. I am looking to upgrade my current NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS to a better beforming video card acutally I am getting EVGA 01G-P3-N959-TR GeForce 9500 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR2, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Support, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, VGA Support at TigerDirect.com that video card I was doing alot of research online and they are backwards compatiable and it says this video card can work with PCIE 1.0 which my computer has since its not a 2.0 sadly

My mother board is as copied from Belarc Advisor
    Board: ELITEGROUP 680IT-GB 1.0

I know my PSU can handle up to 700W max output cotinuously I also looked that up on my power supply so I am not worried about not having enough wattage for the new vdeo card since it says 350-400watts required I just wanna make sure I got the right video card and if anyone knows what performance issues I will be having since itll be running in a PCI1.0 slot instead of 2.0

    Thanks

PS: I am running Windows 7
