I'm running XP

My microphone input volume is very low and obviously the output is awful. Everything is correctly assigned on my soundcard (Asonic External USB2.0 8 Channel Sound Card), the microphone is not muted and the volume control is at its maximum. Everything was working reasonably well until recently. I've tried a system restore but is hasn't solved the problem.

Just to check I tried the windows sound recorder but the result was even worse.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Try another mic.

I already tried two others with the same result

Try connecting the unit to a different USB Port and/or try a different USB Cable.
