    Spots on my laptop screen

    Hi there,

in the past few weeks i have noticed a cluster of spots on my laptop screen, they look like mould spores :/ they are underneath the glass of the screen, i'll try to attach a picture to let you see.

My laptop is a sony vaio vpceb2m0e. i think i bought it in august, it is definately still under warranty anyway.

will this be covered under the warranty? i look after my laptop well tho it is used daily

it is not easy to see in this pic but they are not solid spots, they are soft around the edges, which makes me think mould spores

do you know what they are?

    thanks in advance

If you change the background color - say to a light yellow, do the spots change color too? Of if you change your mouse cursor to a large pointer and move over a spot, does the spot remain? I am trying to determine if they are actual spots on the inside of the glass, a pixel problem, or if the graphics card is telling the monitor to use those colors there.

If you try an external monitor and you see the spots there, you will know it is probably a driver issue. If the external monitor looks clean, then you should call Sony - assuming the spots on the notebook monitor are not on the outside and just need cleaning.

It does almost look like mold or perhaps moisture got back there, but hard to tell from here.

    thanks for your response,

the spots stay whatever colour is on the screen, tho obviously it cant be seen against dark colours. i often connect the laptop to my tv and there are no spots there.

it does look like it needs to go off to sony

    thanks again

When you talk to them, they may get confused thinking you mean "blown pixels". Those are not blown pixels. Those spots stretch across several pixels.
