I am helping a friend with his computer and it's an IBM Thinkcentere it was working correctly and I installed a new cd/dvd as his other one quit rearing, then when I went back to restart the computer I got a Master Boot Record Error, I placed the cd for windows Xp in the machine, restarted and entered the recovery mode and used fixmbr it confirmed it was done, so I restarted the computer, and got the same error message. I entered the bios and reset everything to default, to no avail.
When I went in bios to examine the system hardware it showed only a slave disk and not the primary. I'm at an impasse on how to proceed and would appreciate any and all help.
