    Physical Memory

I have a Toshiba Satellite L35 laptop. It is running slow. In thw systen summary it says it has 512 MB of physical memoery, but only 98.26 MB of physical memory available. Why is there only such a little amount of memory available. If I add an additional 512 MB of memory will that solve my prpblem.

    thanks

It depends on why or what is using up your memory now. Certainly, you should scan for malware to make sure your system is clean. If so, then something else is using it up. Most likely a large chunk is being used for graphics, and there's not much you can do about that with a notebook. If you have many programs starting when Windows boots, you might consider disabling those you don't need and only load them when you actually use them. Of course, you need to run your security at boot, and at all times - at least a real-time anti-malware program and a firewall.

XP should perform much better with 1 gb than what you have provided it can handle it (which it probably can). If you can give me the full model I can make sure that it can. There are multiple L35's.
