Hi sophie28 Welcome to D.A.L
Have tried to see if you can get into safemode to see if the keyboard/mouse works there?
If it works in safemode the whilst in safemode do a system restore back to a time when your mouse/keyboard was working.
If not. Could you possibly borrow a ps2 keyboard and mouser to trouble shoot this problem.
Information on ps2 here PS/2 connector - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If you can borrow them. Again try system restore as you first option. If that does not work post back.

I would suggest you reinstall the chipset drivers for the computer and reboot to take effect.
Also reset the computer by unplug the power cord and pressing down the power button over 20seconds do no let go, this will discharge and rest the PC.
Then connect either mouse or KB and see if works.
Hope this helps!
