Hello there - I am remotely helping a friend with his PC at the moment. It is a 6 year old system (originally built by Evesham, which have now gone bust).
This PC is getting quite slow and sluggish - my first suggestion to my friend was to upgrade the RAM and maybe the processor, however we are struggling to find the name of the motherboard (since I cannot go there to inspect it properly).
He has sent me a photograph of it - I wonder if anyone would be able to either tell me the make/model or where to look for it? I've looked all over the board, searched for all the numbers I can easily see and could not find anything.
The furthest I've got to is that it might be a small MSI motherboard and that the RAM should've been installed in the correct channels.
I really would appreciate some guidance, if possible. Thank you kindly!
A bit of further information I managed to get today:
The processor is:
1.80 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Not hyper-threaded
Although my friend couldn't give the socket type, I would think this is a socket 939, perhaps like the one linked here? http: //shopper.cnet.com/processors/amd-athlon-64-3000/4014-3086_9-31344272.html
I also know that the RAM it holds is:
256MB 32M x 64-Bit DDR400
CL3 184-Pin DIMM
